Supernatural S01-S02

I’ve started watching Supernatural. I’ve never been afraid of the dark, but I have to watch the show from several feet away. It just makes me anxious. It’s different from watching a “scary movie.” In a scary movie you know what the thing is and you can kind of guess what’s going to happen. But with this show, the thing changes every episode, so you have no idea what to expect. I’m constantly on edge, so a bit of physical distance helps calm my nerves.

Dean annoys me sometimes because his douche-y-ness is just uncalled for. That chip on his should is a full grow Idaho that’s ripe for the picking. Even still, I like him. What I like more is the relationship the brothers have. They have some real issues and they’re not solved right away! The show continues on with unhappy Winchester family time. I love it.

I like loose ends and untidy endings and Supernatural’s got them in spades. The show does have its I’m-not-buying-it moments, but overall, I think it’s pretty good. However, there is one thing/episode that was just bad.

S02E02

The spirit de jour for this episode was one that could not enter the home without being invited in. OK. BUT those kids were old enough to know that they shouldn’t open the door in the middle of the night for a stranger. Also, the father telling the kind not to be afraid of the clown because he’s his “friend.” What kind of BS parenting is that? Tell the kid that clowns are just people in make up, so they don’t need to be afraid of them.

Since I’ve managed to reach season 2, I think I’ll continue watching, but from afar.
