New parents, newly wed, new way of life. The only thing that isn’t new is the war that’s going on. Alana and Marko and baby makes three are on the run. He was a prisoner and she was a guard; he’s optimistic and she’s frank; he’s from Wreath, a moon and she’s from Landfall, a planet–the celestial bodies do not get along. Opposites attract? I’m not in a rush to settle on that. For the record, though there are exceptions, I am generally skeeved by human/animal hybrids. Can’t really explain it. This was free and I’ve seen it talked about quite a bit, so I went for it–horns and all. Now, I’m all for it. I really like the writing.
Fortunately for me it’s DTO! There are four volumes out and there’s even a deluxe edition that collects the first 3 volumes. Though I’m not sure what to do about that. If I get the deluxe, then I’ll want the deluxe for all subsequent collected volumes. That means I’ll have to wait longer to read each. If the timeline for v03, deluxe, and v04 is anything to go by, I’ll be waiting months after v06 is released. That plus the time it takes for v05-v06 to be released. So, I don’t know. I suppose I could ask them if the end of the story is written. If so, then they’d have a decent idea of how many volumes there will be.
I don’t know what else to say about this right now, but it’s great. While I know their names, I’m not really familiar with Vaughn or Staples, I think, but whatever mojo cocktail they got going, I’m buying it.
