V01 – So, Yokozawa gets firmly rejected by Takano in Nakamura Shungiku’s The World’s Greatest First Love – The Case of Ritsu Onodera and goes off to drown his sorrows. He’s spotted by Kirishima, a rather impressive sort, and wakes up the next day with no recollection of the previous night’s events and no clothes on. From there, the push and pull relationship of Marukawa Shoten’s Wild Bear and the silver-tongued EiC of Japun paves the way for the Yokozawa Takafumi no Baai BL novel series.
Other than Kirishima’s “I’m out of condom”‘s deal, I liked the volume. I like That Kirishima is older than Yokozawa, but not by like 15 years. Hiyori is cute and isn’t just aww fodder. I’m glad the volume didn’t end with their relationship up in the air. I really hope that Yokozawa and calm down a bit. He agreed to date Kirishima, so he should act like he did and not act like he’s being put upon all the time. I wonder how many volumes it will take before they tell Hiyori.

V02 – Yokozawa made some progress. He’s still very tsun, which is annoying, but this is what I get for reading stories about Nakamura Shungiku’s characters. The subject of Kirishima’s deceased wife was dealt with, though Yokozawa still has feelings of inadequacy. But in addressing those feelings, he acknowledges his feelings and attraction to Kirishima. And I like that. Now he just needs to get to the point where he can admit it to the man himself. Always acting like he’s giving in rather than expressing how much he wants it is what pulls the story along, but I’d love to see–though it will never happen–Kirishima just stop. Stop all the teasing, stop all the affection, stop all the advances and see how out of his mind Yokozawa is driven by that. On the other hand, I really want them to get caught by someone because Kirishima was playing around. And it needs to be something that can’t be misconstrued. Just a straight up lovers-only interaction and they get caught red handed. I want this because it will devastate Yokozawa and he will have to deal with the decision to break up with Kirishima or to admit that he’s in love with him and that he’s definitely in a relationship with him. Also because Kirishima will probably laugh and say something like, “people were going to find out eventually,” but when he realizes how utterly broken Yokozawa is over it, he’s going to regret it and be at a complete loss of how to fix it and he will fear that he can’t. I think that’s the only thing that will stop him or curb his bullying.
