From the beginning I just had the feeling that I was going to be gutted by this story’s end. That didn’t happen, but I did feel like I was slowly sinking into an abyss that smelled of madness and desolation. It was getting darker and darker and I really did fear the worst, but thankfully there was a light.
There were so many moments where the story could have taken the turns we know by heart, but it didn’t. Both Ichinose and Matsubara were going about things with both eyes open. They had unvoiced hopes, but their realities were never clouded them. Quite refreshing.
