Now with even more endings! I can’t really explain how my patience works. Sometimes I really, really can’t wait and I do things like buy the digital version of a book to hold me over until the print comes. Then there are times when I have the patience of the Jews waiting for their Messiah to come. This was one of those extended waits. I prefer to wait for titles to finish serializing before diving into them. I like to be immersed.
I stopped reading TJ and Amal around what probably is the beginning of the second volume. I read the updates for a while, but I felt that the pace of the story wasn’t one that my mind could handle in micro installments, so I put it on my list and waited and waited. Then, the webcomic ended and I thought, “oh great, now I can read it.” But for many reasons, that didn’t happen. Then, the third print volume was released and I had the tabs for the individual volumes open for days, but I still didn’t buy it. Then I had v01-v03 in my Sparkler Monthly cart and all I had to do was check out. That didn’t happen either. There have been more times when my hesitance or reluctance (sometimes manifesting as laziness) has benefited me than there have been times that it hasn’t, so I don’t question it too much. In this case, all that hemming and hawing made it possible for me to be able to pledge for the TJ and Amal Kickstarter the first day I knew of its existence. And some months later, here we are.
It’a a pretty thick book. Hardbacks are nice, great for aesthetic, but they do a number on my wrists, so I will always get the soft cover whenever I can. I’m looking forward to getting reacquainted with the guys and finally seeing what I’ve been holding out for.
