Includes the following illustrated stories–16 pages each
- Kafka – The Castle
- Dostoevsky – The Crocodile
- Soseki Natsume – Sensei and I [from Kokoro]
- Poe – The Purloined Letter
This looks really interesting. Though I can’t do much with Japanese that I can’t copy, paste, and analyze, I know three of the four stories so I should be able to follow along. The Crocodile is a short story, as is The Purloined Letter, and the “Sensei and I” is one of three parts from Kokoro, so I’m assuming its length is about that of a short story, but The Castle is a novel, so I’m wondering how he will manage to convey all of that in 16 pages. But, of course you know, the one I’m most interested in is Poe’s The Purloined Letter.
Certainly because it’s Poe, but also because 75 percent of the story is just two or three men sitting around and talking. I’m imagining illustrations of mathematical equations and Dupin’s recounting how he made off with the letter, but beyond that, I wonder.
