Madarame Hiro: Beautiful Life

This is just a series of heartbroken people delivering heartbreaking testimonies. It’s a meditation on lies–the lies the characters tell themselves as well as the ones they tell others. I wasn’t looking for it, but this totally hit the spot for my unhappy ending craving. I didn’t cry, but I felt sadder, emptier, and more defeated with every page. It was a refreshing turn for Madarame; I’m used to a different kind of empty when it comes to her work.
